Employees of R.R Donnelley were thwarted by the weather but it did not stop the holiday magic. Employees had taken up a collection, done the shopping, lined up their Santa Claus and were all prepared to visit the Kosciusko County Head Start classes when the big snow storm hit.
Still, the gifts were quietly delivered in large bags with each child’s name written on its tag, “To: . . .” and “From: Santa Claus”.
Upon seeing this, one little girl announced to her teacher that there is no Santa Claus. She was certain of this because she has two older brothers and they told her this was so. Deftly deflecting the subject, the teacher moved on to handing out the bags as parents began arriving to take their children home for the day.
The bags with tags stating they were from Santa Claus were sent home and the next day when the little girl’s mom arrived at Head Start she asked, “How did they know what my daughter wanted for Christmas?” The teacher explained that the gifts were bought without knowing who the children were or what they wanted.
On hearing this, the mom was even more surprised and continued by saying her daughter had been incessantly asking for just one gift this Christmas: a Disney Princess Easy Bake Oven. But the family was not able to buy one for her. Everyone was surprised when the little girl opened her gift bag and saw its contents.
Inside the bag with her name on it was the Disney Princess Easy Bake Oven. “There is a Santa Claus!” she shouted. Yes there is, and apparently he has connections at R.R. Donnelley.
