August 18 Conference for Parents and Middle-High
Denise Arland and Amy Borgmann are mothers of children with disabilities.
As parents who have children with special needs, they want are inviting other parents to attend an exciting conference, Champion Your Future: A Game Plan for Life, along with your middle or high school child. Young adults who recently graduated from high school will also benefit from this conference. The conference takes place Saturday, August 18, at Hamilton Southeastern High School, Fishers, Indiana.
For many years, Denise and Amy have traveled together to conferences and trainings to learn how to be effective advocates for their children. In August,2006 they attended a transition conference to learn how to begin planning for their children's adult life. At the end of a particularly inspirational presentation by Mike Schillapi, a paralympic athlete, they looked at one another and said, "Our children need to hear this!" At that moment, the idea for the Champion Your Future conference was born.
Over the past several months, they have worked with The Arc of Indiana and a
planning committee to put together a conference that will feed your need for information as a parent, and begin to open your child's mind to possibilities for their future. They have wonderful keynote speakers who will appeal to the entire family. They have breakout sessions for parents and sessions geared especially for students.
This is a unique opportunity for your child to hear directly from their peers and others who can help them think about the possibilities for their game plan for life! You are invited to come together as a family, and hear and learn about future possibilities at this unique conference. For complete conference information, including a registration form, go to:
