Cardinal Kicks Off 2009 Duck Race Fundraiser
Feathers were flying as Quacky - our Duck Race mascot - made his first appearance of the 2009 season at the Cardinal Services Courtyard on June 4th!
Quacky joined CEO Jane Greene as people chanted his name and cheered his arrival. Our mascot timed his first appearance to help Greene unveil the 2009 Duck Race logo and to celebrate the kick-off of this summer's race.
Joined by past race volunteers, Cardinal employees and guests enjoyed a picnic lunch under a sunny, blue sky.
Greene spoke about the great success of the race in previous years. "We have grown the race each year, selling more ducks and involving more people from year to year. Let's keep it going!" said Greene as she challenged the crowd to sell 10,000 ducks this year.
RACE FACTS:
- Over 4 years, the race has rased more than $150,000 for Cardinal Services
- Over 100 volunteers sold ducks last year
- Together, they sold 8,441 ducks
- Our goal this year is 10,000 ducks
- ANYONE can form a Duck Sales Team
