Head Start
Head Start provides comprehensive preschool and childcare programs for eligible families with children ages three to five. At least 10% of enrollment opportunities are given to children with disabilities.
Preschool classes meet for 3-1/2 hours a day, 4 days a week during the school year. Free transportation is provided for these classes located in North Webster, Mentone, and Warsaw. If possible, the classes have a bilingual assistant to ease the transition for English language learners.
Full day, full year licensed childcare services are provided in Warsaw only. All Head Start classrooms in Kosciusko County are accredited through the National Association of the Education of Young Children.
Families are encouraged to participate in their child's education by volunteering in the classroom , assisting with special projects, arranging parent meetings, becoming involved in policy groups, and/or becoming involved in one of the support groups offered. Family service staff assists families in meeting their work, education, self-sufficiency or parenting needs.
