Women Infants and Children (WIC)
WIC serves to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, & children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk. We serve over 1200 participants each month, providing supplemental foods, nutrition education, and nutritional health screenings. We also refer participants to health care providers, and other programs as needed.

The WIC target population is low-income, nutritionally at risk:
  • Pregnant women (through pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after birth or pregnancy ends)
  • Breastfeeding women (up to infant's 1st birthday)
  • Non-breastfeeding postpartum women (up to 6 months after birth or pregnancy ends)
  • Infants (up to 1st birthday)
  • Children up to their 5th birthday
The following benefits are provided to WIC participants:
  • Supplemental nutritious foods
  • Nutrition education and counseling at WIC clinics
  • Screening and referrals to other health, welfare and social services
WIC in Kosciusko County also offers the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). This program provides additional coupons to WIC participants that they can use to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers' markets.
