WIC (Women, Infants and Children)
WIC is a federal nutrition program serving to safeguard the health of income eligible women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk.
We serve over 1700 participants each month, providing supplemental foods, nutrition education and nutritional health screenings. We also refer participants to health care providers and other programs as needed.
The WIC target population is nutritionally at risk and living at 185% of poverty (income at or below $42,643 for a family of four):
- Pregnant women (through pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after birth or pregnancy ends)
- Breastfeeding women (up to infant's 1st birthday)
- Non-breastfeeding postpartum women (up to 6 months after birth or pregnancy ends)
- Infants (up to 1st birthday)
- Children up to their 5th birthday
The following benefits are provided to WIC participants:
- Supplemental nutritious foods
- Nutrition education and counseling at WIC clinics
- Screening and referrals to other health, welfare and social services
We also offer the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). This program provides additional coupons to WIC participants to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers' markets.
Our WIC Office is located in the K21 Health Services Pavilion at 1515 Provident Drive, Warsaw.
